Glitter makes the world go round

So this is a quick post on my nail glitter pots that I ordered from ebay. Now I've got to be honest, they cost me like £3 for 24 different colours so I don't feel cheated or anything...just that it's not any special glitter at all...it's normal glitter *shrug* anyway...this is what I did with it to test...plus it's a bitch to get out with nail polish remover I literally have to soak my nails for a bit in remover and then it comes off. Grrr.

Still the results were not bad :)

Best thing about it, it's quick to do but a little messy. So lay down some newspaper and then all you got to do is paint your nails whatever colour you want I chose Rimmel I Love Lasting Finish in Strawberry Fizz and then with the clear I covered the tip of my nails and dipped the finger in the pot. I had an old fan paint brush but any make up brush could do (just not thin ones, you'll be there forever) and then lightly brush over the nail to get rid of excess. Voila! That's all it takes and then at the end shake the extra glitter into the pot or throw away and then seal the deal with the clear nail varnish!

Summer Fun

I can't lie. Every time the sun is out I get uber excited and feel ultra happy probably because we don't get a lot of sun here and I've figured it out. I'm a summer baby, I NEED the sun.

This is what happened when my sun deprived self got excited:

Don't ask me why I took the pic before finishing!

Yup. I got all multi-coloured on my nails!!!!!!

I'll start with the thumb:

It's a Primark nail varnish Glo Baby Glo! Nails in 001...there's no name for it but it's an indigo purple. Then it's Barry M Shocking Pink, Rimmel I Love Lasting Finish in Apricot Punch, NYC Long Wearing Nail Enamel in i114A (Yellow to you and me) and Barry M Mint Green. As you can tell I then proceeded to attack my nails with my gem wheel and I finished it with a clear coat.

I wish I had a better picture but for some reason I don't :( I do remember doing these late at night though...

Shiny, Sparkly Nails!!!!

It's summer and I've put all dark colours away and decided to try the whole au natural look and add a bit of jazz to my nails since my pearls arrived!! Big yay!

Anyway this is what I came up with :

still working on the whole get my nails the same size thing : P

I am tres in <3 with this because it's so simple and cute
It took me a while cos there was so many fiddly bits but I got there in the end. First off I was going to use Rose Libertine by Rimmel 60 Second Dry and its nice but slightly darker than this which is 17's Pink Lemonade. I put on my base and it did need two coats because it was such a light colour and I still wanted a warm pink. After that, I took out my gem wheel and pearl wheel, and let me tell you my silver gems are looking so less it makes me : ( best start reordering them!!! I've got an assortment of big pearls, little pearls in light green, creme and two shades of pink (dark and light) and random roses popped in which I don't know when to use....yet :D. I started with toothpick and water to pick them up but the pearls were too heavy so settled back on tweezers! As I went to get the tweezers I found a pack of little confetti I used to decorate for a birthday party. Inspiration STRUCK! Next thing I knew I was dotting them in between the gems and pearls! So all in all, yes, I used confetti on my nails and I like it :)

Oh yeah...don't forget the top coat! :D

Animal Magic

So for a while I got bored of doing the gems and decided to take a break plus supplies were looking low as I had begun doing some for my friends and then sometimes I wouldn't like the combinations and wipe it all off and throw it away...then I came across using nail art with make up! Now I did go through another phase of buying glittery eye liners and never wearing them. I'm talking about the glitter liquid liners one's not the kohl sticks, I bought some from The Body Shop but I know you can buy them at Primark for like £1.50 in different colours. So I googled how to do leopard print nails and this is what I ended up with:

Hadn't tidied them up yet!

the flash caught on the nails :(

Anyway, they were pretty easy to do. I used Accessorize nail varnish, I don't actually know when they started doing nail varnishes but this one is called: Nail Polish Shade 9, Fudge £4. I applied two coats of this, then I used my silver eye liner and gold eye liner (the silver one is from The Body Shop and I think it was £8 but then I got the gold eye liner from Superdrug, a brand called 2true where you get three items for £5, obviously this was before I knew Primark did liquid liners!). Moving on, I swished the silver and gold on top of my nails making sure there was even spread and waited for it to dry (around 2 min, I'm impatient) and then I used my top black liquid liner also a 2true product and drew on bent little c's and lines for the leopard print. It's a little bit tricky but you can get the hang of it. This was first attempt so I guess I was more forgiving and more impressed that I could do it. The finishing touch? Clear top coat of course, provided by, and I swear by it Barry M: Tough as Nails 3 in 1 nail varnish : D. I wore them for 4 days before I got bored....

Dedication to the nation...charity nation :)

So when I was working at a school they celebrated Children in Need and everyone knows Pudsey bear is yellow and wears a bandana with red polka dots...I couldn't resist. I took out my yellow nail varnish from NYC range and my handy gem wheel for the red and clear nail varnish. Hey presto...the coolest nails I've ever done and I got to finally use the yellow...the photo's a bit blurry but you get the gist. Plus, it was Polka Dot Day so how's that for dedication!

Funny thing is people think it takes forever to do these but I did this when I was watching the telly. Took me like ten minutes.

My first baby steps into the nail world

I remember painting my nails and thinking I am so sure I could do something else to make it look interesting...I don't know why but I went onto ebay and typed in nail art. 1000 gems for £1! It was ridiculously good value for money! I ordered it straightaway and about two weeks later when I accidentally forgot I even ordered them I began messing around with them! 12 colours to choose from and all I needed was a toothpick or tweezers to apply them with and clear nail varnish! Easy or what...so this is what I did...my first ever attempt at nail art. Easy.

I think the colour I used here was 17's Miami. I think I did this in like different variations and colours which I'll post pictures of.

Nail Wars

Hi, so this is my very first ever blog entry and I don't know how it's going to look but I'm uber interested in nails recently. I've been buying gems, pearls, pots of glitters and fimo nail art (which I can't wait for to arrive) and stars, dotting tools and a nail collection nearing 60. I don't even want to think how much money I've spent on it all i know is I can't just simply paint my nails anymore...there has to be something done to them so I'm going to be blogging my different designs I try and show you just how easy it is to do! : D

So welcome to Nail Soldiers where I'll use my little army of nail polishes to create some designs and i'm new to this so any advice would be cool! : D
